SURVEY DETAILS
TARGET POPULATION

For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 70 senior executives working within the energy companies in the US and Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain).

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents shared insights into the current state of grid infrastructure, including priority areas for investment such as transmission lines and energy storage, technical preparedness for major upgrades, and workforce readiness.
  • Furthermore, the survey examined key challenges facing the power sector, such as high production and upgrade costs, permitting delays, regulatory approval timelines, and barriers to adopting hydrogen as a power source.
  • Lastly, the research explored strategies and technology adoption trends, including diversification of suppliers to mitigate tariff impacts, experimental use of AI/ML for power generation, and the growing role of digital twins and predictive maintenance in reducing downtime. It also looked at long-term planning toward 2030/2050 carbon neutrality targets.

Examples of findings:

  • Over half of respondents (53%) agree that solar energy will take the largest share of the energy mix by 2030.
  • Over three-in-five respondents (63%) declared to have diversified their suppliers to mitigate the impact of tariffs on the supply chain (sourcing) side.
  • Over three-in-ten (31%) respondents expect to have their grid infrastructure fully modernised in more than 10 years.

Deliverables

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Norbert Nusterer, former President of Power Systems at Cummins Inc.

  • 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
  • 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
  • Executive summary with key takeaways and highlights from the raw data.

Sample Questions

  • How much impact will digital twins & predictive maintenance have on reducing infrastructure downtime over the next 3–5 years?
  • Which areas of power infrastructure are currently being prioritized for upgrades?
  • Which clean energy sources are expected to see the largest share of energy mix by 2030?
  • What role do public-private partnerships play in advancing power generation infrastructure?
  • Which of the following technologies do you believe will have the greatest impact on power generation in the next 5-10 years?
  • What are the biggest barriers to adopting hydrogen as a power source?
  • What best practices have you adopted to mitigate the impact of tariffs on the supply chain (sourcing) side?
